North Carolina's lifestyle scene is built on the hotel takeover more than the clubhouse. On a party weekend an organizer books an entire hotel, and several hundred couples check in for a DJ, themed dress and private suites upstairs. The biggest names are in Charlotte.
Carolina Friends traces its history to 1991 and regularly draws more than 400 couples to its Charlotte events, with smaller parties in Greensboro. Camelot Social Club holds monthly takeovers at Charlotte-area hotels and a Friday meet and greet, and asks every guest to sign a waiver online before a first visit. In the Triangle, Friction runs large Durham and Raleigh area takeovers that keep strict check-in cutoffs and never admit single men.
For a permanent club, Charlotte couples head 25 minutes west to Club Red Door in Gastonia. It opens Friday and Saturday with last entry at 11 p.m., allows beer and wine but not hard liquor, and asks for regular clothes until 11 before guests change into something more revealing. Eastern North Carolina has been quieter since YKW in Fayetteville lost its lease in 2022; its owners say they plan to reopen but had not confirmed a location as of September 2026.

Is YKW in Fayetteville open?
No. YKW has been closed since June 2022 when its landlord declined to renew the lease. The owners say they plan to reopen, but no location has been confirmed.

Friction does not admit single men at all, Carolina Friends is for couples and single women, and Camelot restricts single men from hospitality suites.
